The Raiders were challenged by Baldwin-Wallace but still came out of Saturday afternoon with a pair of 3-1 wins.
In the opening game of the doubleheader, the Raiders jumped on BW early and claimed the first two sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-19 respectively. In the third set, the Yellow Jackets came out firing against the Raiders. The Yellow Jackets got out to an 11-3 lead with Chris Moehl leading the way with a trio of kills early in the set. From then on, the Raiders rallied but fell short and the Jackets claimed the set, 25-18. In the fourth set, the Raiders got back in rhythm and were comfortably in the lead, winning 25-16.
BW came into the second game refocused and claimed the first set 25-20. The Yellow Jackets played tight with the Raiders and got separation in the middle of the set. BW extended their lead to six after a kill by Kamau Maka’ike (19-13). The Raiders would never draw closer than within four points the rest of the way. After the opening set it was all Raiders. Mount Union rolled in the final three sets and claimed them by scores of 25-19, 25-14, 25-18.
With the wins, the Raiders improved to 17-2 (12-2 MCVL) on the season and extended their win streak to fifteen games. On the other hand, BW fell to 6-10 (6-10 MCVL). The Raiders will next be in action on March 30, 2021 when they travel to Penn State-Behrend for a nonconference game (7:00 PM).
