ALLIANCE, OH: Alliance, still in search for win number one, found themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard once again on the road this past Friday.

Alliance did not take long to score as they capped off their opening drive with a rushing touchdown from Sophomore Kayden Davis to take a 7-0 lead with 9:45 left in the first quarter. The defense showed up as the Aviators would take their 7-0 lead into the second quarter.

Halfway through the second frame, Junior Jason Austin put the Quakers on the board with a rushing touchdown up the middle to even things out at 7-7. However, the Aviators would quickly counter as Kayden Davis would score again with 1:29 left until halftime. The extra point was blocked giving Alliance a 13-7 lead at the break.

Salem came out blazing as they took their first drive down the field in less than two minutes to tie the game up. They added their point-after attempt and would take a 14-13 lead with 10:50 left in the third quarter. Sophomore Jackson Johnson lead the pass game all night long but scored his second rushing touchdown of the game with 7:37 left in the third quarter. The point-after attempt was blocked leaving Salem with a 20-13 lead.

The fourth quarter was dominated by defense as midway through the third quarter, there were three fumbles in four plays that left Alliance the chance to tie the game. Alliance could not take advantagebut they would get another chance before the end of the game. The Aviators took it back down the field, but Freshman Brendan Zurbrugg ended his first varsity start at quarterback with an interception to Senior Jax Booth that sealed the 20-13 win for Salem.

Jackson Johnson was named the WRMU Player of the Game as he passed for 196 yards while adding 107 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Salem improved to 3-3 with the win. For Alliance, they head to round one of the playoffs with a winless regular season at 0-6. Salem drew the #15 seed in Region 13 and will host Struthers in round one of the playoffs. Alliance drew the #24 seed in Region 9 and will travel to Hubbard for their first-round matchup.
