ALLIANCE, OH: We were once again treated to a high scoring offensive contest that led to total of 74 points. In the Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC) battle, Carrollton took down Alliance, 40-34 on the road.
Alliance looking for their first win started the game off quick. On the second play of the game Senior Brandon Alexander found Sophomore Kayden Davis for a 61-yard touchdown that started the scoring as the Aviators took a 7-0 lead. Carrollton would respond with a methodical drive that was run oriented and capped off with a quarterback keeper by Senior Luke Warner that would even the score at 7-7 with 6:08 left in the first quarter.
There were a few defensive stands after the first two scores but that would not last as Kayden Davis took a handoff 67 yards to the endzone to give the Aviators a 13-7 lead after the missed point after. Carrollton would once again respond on the next drive as Luke Warner found Senior Talen Timberlake for a 48-yard touchdown pass that would give the Warriors a 14-13 lead after the extra point. The was not the end of the half however as Brandon Alexander would connect with Senior Tre Hawkins for a late touchdown and then they added a two-point conversion that gave Alliance a 21-14 lead heading into the half.
Carrollton started the second half with possession and would run off nearly six minutes of game time on their way to a two-yard touchdown rush by Sophomore Chase Oehlstrom to even things up at 21-21. Alliance would be the responders this time as Brandon Alexander connected with Senior Dylan Bugara 45 yards downfield for another Aviator touchdown that would make 28-21 with 4:53 left in the third quarter. Chase Oehlstrom however would score his second of the night in the next drive to make it 28-28 after three quarters of play.
An Aviator fumble would set the Warriors up great as Oehlstrom would find the endzone for a third time and would give Carrollton a 34-28 lead with 11:52 left in the game. Nearly eight minutes of game time would pass before we saw another score, when Alexander kept it himself for a touchdown that would even things up at 34-34, the Aviators would also miss the point after. Carrollton then had over four minutes to score, and with 1:37 left Warner would punch it in from a yard out to give the Warriors a 40-34 lead after another missed point after. The Aviators could not move the ball forward and would end up turning it over on downs with 19 seconds left and Carrollton would take one knee and secure the road win.
Chase Oehlstrom was named the WRMU Player of the Game as he carried the ball 36 times for 196 yards and three touchdowns.
Carrollton improved to 3-2 with the win. As for Alliance they are now 0-5 and their struggle continues as we are just a week away from the postseason.
