Morant Owns Round One

The Murray State Racers stepped into round one of the NCAA tournament as upset favorites. The 12 Racers seed took down six seeded Marquette, all lead by sophomore Point Guard Ja Morant. Despite being at small Murray State, Morant is a lottery pick that would fit with any of the top five teams. Even though Morant is a top five pick, it took a round one win to introduce Morant to America.

“I don’t really watch college basketball until the tournament” a commonly used phrase around bracket time. Even if someone watched college basketball, they probably have Zion on the brain. Ja Morant used the round one matchup with Marquette to make sure when he is drafted, there is highlights. Morant tallied a triple-double with 17 points, 16 assists, and 11 rebounds. Murray hit a highlight step back to end the half and included multiple big dunks. America knows Ja Morant now. As the NBA draft comes this summer Morant has threatened to break up the idea of three Duke players being selected with he first three picks. The Russel Westbrook compared point guard averaged 24.6 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds this season as a Second team Sporting news All American.

Murray State lost in round two of the tournament, and Morant shows no signs of staying. When summer comes and the Suns, Cavs, Bulls, and Knicks need and electric player to rebuild with, Morant is the move.
