In the film “Iron Man”, Marvel Studios was able to create a great beginning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This action-packed film was stellar and leaves you on the edge of your seat throughout its entirety. With the combination of a remarkable plot and a star-studded cast this movie ranks high on the list of superhero movies.

Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.), an intelligent playboy, who inherited his fathers advanced weaponry business, Stark Industries, suddenly finds himself in a cave fighting for his life after a military convoy is attacked by terrorists. He is then asked to build an advanced missile for the attackers, but instead of working on the missile, he builds a metal suit with missiles built in it for his escape. Upon his return to his California home he perfects this project coining the iconic hotrod red and alloy gold suit. After discovering disturbing news about an unsuspecting being, he is then tasked with stopping the man who stole his blueprints for the suit and is attempting to use it as a deadly weapon. With the help from Colonel James Rhodes (Terrence Howard) and his assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) he would attempt to fix the huge problem he is faced with.

The acting in this movie was magnificent throughout. Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect selection for Tony Stark along with Gwyneth Paltrow playing his beautiful assistant Pepper Potts. Director Jon Favreau was a huge advocate for Downey Jr. and with his persistence was able to land him the role, which may be remembered as one of the greatest decisions in movie history. With the combination of his good looks and humor he was perfect for the role of Tony Stark. With the rest of the supporting cast being phenomenal there is not much to complain about with the cast of this film.

Overall this movie was phenomenal. Along with amazing special effects the plot is remarkable. The greatest scene in the movie takes place towards the beginning when Stark finishes his metal suit and takes out everyone in his path on his way to escaping the cave and getting back home. He torches down all the missiles the terrorists had obtained from Stark Industries and uses his suit to fly out of the explosion unharmed. There is not much to complain with this movie except for a little structure issue at the beginning. The movie begins with the convoy being attacked, then it flashes back thirty-six hours to show what happened leading up to this, just for the convoy scene to take place again. The movie could have done without the first convoy scene and just began with the flash back as the beginning of the movie. Other than that little detail every aspect of this movie was terrific.

If you are not a big fan of superheroes or action this might not be a film on your must-see list, but for anyone that is “Iron Man” is a film that will not disappoint. A great movie with a PG-13 rating makes this an action movie that is great film for everyone to enjoy.
