The film “Captain America: The First Avenger” is everything you want out of a movie about America’s favorite soldier. Taking place during the second world war, super soldier, Steve Rogers becomes the American hero in an action-packed film released by Marvel Studios.

The film begins with a very scrawny Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) who just wants a chance to fight for his country, but due to his size he is overlooked multiple times until Dr. Abraham Erskine (Stanley Tucci) sees the heart he has for his country. Due to this Dr. Erskine offers him the chance to take the super soldier serum, that would improve his size and overall ability. Rogers takes it and seems as if he doubles in size and he also possesses enhanced physical attributes such as speed and strength. He would then become the poster boy for the war known as Captain America and would go around doing shows to help increase bond purchases for the war. During all of this he finds out his friend Bucky (Sebastian Stan) might be in trouble and Rogers takes it upon himself to go save his friends unit. Through this act of heroism, he becomes the American hero. He continues to fight battles alongside his friend Bucky throughout the film, in attempt to take down Johann Schmidt (Hugo Weaving) and his Nazi group, Hydra.

Another key role in this film was Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). In this film Atwell does a phenomenal job in playing the role of a strategic agent who is by Rogers side throughout the film. Looking at the rest of the cast, there is not much to complain about. Great cast with great acting throughout, especially Chris Evans who was perfect for the lead role of Steve Rogers.

Overall this film was stellar, and it gets you excited for the future as The Avengers are beginning to take shape. The only complaint with this film took place towards the beginning, and it has to do with the special effects. When the film began, they used special effects to make Chris Evans smaller, to appear as a scrawny boy with the dream of fighting for his country, but Evans head stays the same size and it looks a little awkward sitting atop a scrawny body. Other than that, little flaw the film was amazing. IN my opinion, the best scene is when Rogers gets the chance to finally kiss the girl he has crushed on since the beginning of the film, and this might be due to my weakness for romance when incorporated in an action film.

It is another movie that any fan of superheroes and action must see. This is also a film that can be enjoyed by almost anyone because it depicts America’s hero!

FINAL RATING: 89/100
