Fans of the 6GOD have been waiting months for the new project, More Life, to be released.  Drake has been known for being a major label artist who has been treading the newly defined, thin line between album and mixtape in this new age of streaming.  This time the crew from October’s Very Own tries something new by building this playlist.

A total of 22, previously unreleased tracks from Drake himself with some powerful features from Giggs, Black Coffee, Jorja Smith, Quavo, Travis Scott, 2 Chainz Young Thug, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Kanye West.  A dope line-up of artists help to create the first playlist from October Firm.

I was just talking to a buddy of mine about how hip-hop has changed recently, where more artists are rapping about the same things, while others are creating stories with their albums, and that’s what makes More Life such an outstanding project.  Despite its extensive track list, it isn’t anything like a Drake album or mixtape, it’s a collection of tracks that follow the same themes that Drake has established, without telling a full story.

It will be interesting to see if playlists will be the next trend among artists of the same level as Drake.  I think something like this could really catch on, especially through some DJs like DJ Khalid or Metro Boomin.  It’s a great start to a new idea and I’m excited to see how far it goes.  Big ups to Drake and all of October Firm for this release.
