Music Note Bokeh

Hailing from Christchurch, New Zealand, the indie-rock band Mako Road has been flying under the radar for a few years now. With almost 274,000 monthly listeners, I believe that this band is EXTREMELY underrated based on their shear talent and incomparable sound.

I have never listened to a band that has the ability to take you somewhere else with their music until I started listening to these guys. They have established an easy, beach-like sound to their tracks that will instantly brighten your mood upon listening. With infusions of blues, reggae, and folk, Mako Road is extremely unique and distinguishable from most of today’s music. Although the band’s members look to be barely old enough to enter a bar, their collective instrumental talent is far beyond their ages. The way that their individual sounds meld together is something that should be envied by their peers, and it sets them apart from the rest of the crowd. The vocals from Rhian Ward give the band the extra New Zealand flavor that helps each track blossom into something smooth, groovy, and ultimately beautiful.

Since their formation a few years ago, they have not toured in the United States… yet. I am looking forward to seeing them live, as they are close to the top of my list of bands that I NEED to see. If they are anything close to how they sound on their recordings, I will be incredibly impressed. That’s simply just how good these guys sound.

If you are a fan of soothing, summer-vibe music, then this is the band for you. I promise that you will not be disappointed.
