Vinylthon is this Saturday, April 17th. 91.1 WRMU will be playing Vinylthon records on air all day Starting with Junior Ben Broscheid at Midnight.
Broscheid had a Vinylthon shift his freshman year but due to Covid-19 there were no Vinylthon shifts at Mount Union last April. Broscheid is excited to open Vinylthon with his teammates Alec Broscheid and Logan Hill and will be coming back at 4:30 p.m. for “Ben’s Rock Revival Vinylthon Edition.” Ben has so many records and will be playing some of his favorites during his shifts.
“I don’t even think I’ve been through all my records” Ben Broscheid said, “so that’s the exciting thing about Vinylthon”
Ben has a lot of experience with vinyl but some hosts are new to vinylthon. Alana Petracci has never had an on-air shift before and is excited that her first on-air shift will be Vinylthon.
RJ Johnson, Brady Pierce and Emily Swisher all have weekly R91 Shows on 91.1 WRMU and will be hosting morning shifts for Vinylthon.
Johnson is a freshman and has been getting involved with numerous parts of Raider Student Media. She does not have much experience with Vinyl but is hopeful for the future.
“I think Vinyl is hip,” Johnson said, “I think it stopped for a while and then everyone else decided, wait a minute, this is cool.”
Wil Brienza loves vinyl and has a wide collection of interesting records. He is one of the seniors who has a shift this year and is looking forward to his first crack at Vinylthon.
“Vinyl is music in it’s purest form” Will Brienza said, “the crackle of a vinyl is probably my favorite thing.”
